Looking for something cozy and flavorful to add to your meal plan for the week? This Homemade Garlic Meat Sauce is delicious, hearty, and easy to prepare. Serve sauce over pasta of choice with some garlic toast and you have one tasty bowl!
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp La Tourangelle Garlic Oil
- 1 lb lean ground beef (or turkey, if preferred)
- 1 sweet onion, diced
- 5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (15 oz.) plain crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz.) plain tomato sauce
-
1 can Italian style diced tomatoes (14.5 ounce)
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 2 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan
- *Optional: fresh chopped parsley for garnish, additional parmesan as desired
Directions
- Drizzle approximately 1 and 1/2 tbsp La Tourangelle Garlic Oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Once hot, add ground beef (or turkey), onion, garlic, and salt. Cook until meat is cooked through and no longer pink, breaking it up as you go. Mix around with oil as you cook, to fully coat.
- Next, to the pot add the following: crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, pepper, basil, oregano and sugar.
- Bring sauce to a low boil. Once boiling, turn heat down to medium and let simmer for an hour, minimum, stirring on occasion/as needed. *If it gets too hot/starts bubbling, lower temperature a bit.
- Add butter, parmesan cheese and additional salt and pepper as needed. Mix until well-incorporated. Season additionally as desired.
- Serve sauce over cooked pasta of choice and bread, if desired. Before serving pasta, drizzle with remaining Garlic Oil, and toss to coat.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and additional shredded parmesan cheese if desired.
