La Tourangelle avocado oils are 100% pure (we test each batch for authenticity in our lab), all-natural and handcrafted from premium avocados. The oil is extracted from the avocado pulp using a centrifuge similar to how we extract EVOO. The result is a beautiful, emerald green oil with high level of monounsaturated fats that will bring a delicious, light fruity flavor to your dishes.
La Tourangelle avocado oils are NOT fully refined. This means that our avocado oils are green and loaded with naturally occurring antioxidants. Chemical refining of most avocado oils removes many health benefits and we do not believe this is the best choice.
We regularly test avocado oil found on retail shelves and have found that many avocado oil sold are actually blended with soybean oil, safflower oil and sunflower oil. In 2020, the Wang Lab at University of California Davis published the first extensive study of commercial avocado oil quality and purity. The lab latest report shows that most private label avocado oils sold at supermarket shelves are not authentic avocado oils. Beware!
